The scans received on parcels – Australia Post

Lately, we have been receiving enquiry about the scans received on parcels, as it appears that Australia Post hardly scan the parcel until almost just before delivery.

This seems to defeat the purpose of tracking service. So, we lodged a formal enquiry to Australia Post in order to understand their process.

Below is their response. We have posted this here for the purpose of clarification only. (Names have been removed for privacy.)

There is an update for your enquiry.
New Comment: Hi xxxxx,

Thank you for taking the time to contact us about the scans received on parcels. My name is xxxx and I can certainly advise further.

The scans placed on an item while in transit will vary greatly depending on the service used, the facilities handling the sorting and the size of the article. As a very general rule, smaller items or Express Post articles will only normally receive a delivered scan, due to the speed and machinery used to sort the parcels.

However, this is not a steadfast rule and will vary on the items that you send and where you send them to.

I hope that this information has clarified the matter and been of some assistance. Please let us know if you have any further questions. I’m sorry that I haven’t been able to help you further.

Regards,
xxxx xxxxxx
